I recently went on a holiday to Cork City for one weekend. It was my very first time to Cork as well. While I was there I visited some attractive places.
First when I explored the city I got some photos around the city of Beautiful Architectural Buildings.
In Fitzgerald Park I saw shoes hanging in trees, a large ponds with some ducks and a fountain.
When I visited Cork Public Museum to take a tour around the exhibitions I was allowed to take some photos without flash mode on. The most interesting object I saw in the museum is the gypsy Wagen.
I visited Shandon Bells and tower at St Anne’s church. I had to wear ear defenders for this tour as the loud ringing bell could damage my hearing. To get to the top of the tower I went up a very narrow stairs. Once I reached the top I could see views of cork city from all around.
During Christmas time I had lots of fun building cardboard 3D houses from Tiny Ireland that were made in West Cork. When all the houses were put together I decided to go outside to take photographs of the houses in beautiful spots in the garden.
As I took the photos I had my camera screen tilted upwards to get some good shots.
When I saw a hill of sand I decided to line up all the houses up there and get some photographs of them. It looks more like Wales than Ireland as it looks like the houses are on top of a mountain.
To look at more cardboard houses from tiny Ireland you can look at this website
Today I went outside for another photography session on Autumn leaves changing colours. I looked around the whole garden for the best colour change of leaves on different bushes and trees. I have found lots of leaves that are beautifully coloured from green to brown, orange, red and yellow.
This photograph is a whole area of bushes and trees which I looked for beautiful leaves.
Today my two cats were hiding underneath a beautiful tree because it was raining and they don’t like getting wet. I took photos of them as they were sitting there getting dry. I like spending some time with them outside.
During the start of Autumn I found some Leaves and Butterflies. I find it very interesting how the leaves on the plants and trees in the Autumn change colour from green to red, yellow, brown and orange. Today I found some beautiful butterflies in the garden to take photos of.
Here are some of the photos of the leaves changing from green to brown.
There are lots of butterflies in our garden. They landed onto flowers today so I took some close up photos of them before they flew off.
While I was in Gosport near Southampton in England I decided to visit Portchester castle. This castle is seen from Portsmouth harbour and it had a role in the defence from the stretch of the water. All the Romans, Normans and Saxons were protected from raiders and pirates in this location.
The castle has great for royal residence and It’s where armies departed off to the Continent. By the 17th century the castle became a prison.
This tower is called the keep and It is a great masterpiece of architecture on the castle. The thick walls are well presented with small cut stones. It was built on a square plan and the tower is about 30m high.
On the walls of the castle I found some lovely flints attached to them to take photographs of.
These are birds on the second floor in front of the beams that were used for the prisoners hammocks during the Napoleonic wars
This church is called Church of St Mary which is a building in the Outer Bailey. Weddings are so popular in there as you see the wedding couple in the photo. This church was part of the Augustinian monastery within the castle grounds.
These are the perimeter walls of one side of the outer Bailey.
It is amazing how you can see the whole site of Portchester castle from a very high view.
I haven’t written a blog in over a week as I went on a holiday to England to see some relatives and friends. While I was there on my holiday I went to Watercress Line which is located in Hampshire for my very first chance to go for a ride on a steam train. The four train stations located there are Alton, Medstead and Four Marks, Ropley and Alresford.
First the drivers of the train let me go up to the steam engine to get some photographs of the fire and all the controls. It was very hot from the fire while I was up there.
I was very excited to go onto one of the carriages and the whole interior felt like The Hogwarts Express in Harry Potter. I looked out the window and I took photos very quickly of other trains and carriages as the train moves very fast.
Normally I am sensitive to noise and I can’t tolerate certain sounds. While I was riding in the train I really enjoyed listening to the engine noise and the choo choo sound of the steam. It was a very nice sound to listen to and I didn’t bother listening to music.
I also got photos of the wheels, parts of the different stations and the whole train from the middle of the crossing bridge.
Towards the end of the steam train tour I was allowed to go up to the signal box where they change the signals.
I used to have a fear of bees because I thought they might sting me. In order to overcome this fear I went outside with my camera to search for bees and take photographs of them on flowers. This helped me to stay calmer around bees because they won’t sting me randomly. Bees are very good pollinators and they take nectar from each flower. We have a lot of flowers in our garden and we wouldn’t want the population of bees to decrease and disappear.
Stupid people who spray chemicals all over the place are killing the bees and they are killing themselves.
Sorry that I haven’t written in a while as I spend the last two weeks doing the leaving certificate. During the weeks leading up to it I took some photographs of the Aeonium plant, also called the tree houseleek and made a series of pictures of the plant growing.
